Steptoe and Son was the inspiration for Sandford. Showed that the British sitcoms were better than the American sitcom.

Steptoe and Son inspired Sanford and Son. But if you look at a October, 1975 episode of Sanford and Son, they did a Jewish version called Steinberg and Son.
