Johnny Maestro dies at age 70 Johnny Maestro, the golden-voiced singer behind The Crests' "Sixteen Candles" and The Brooklyn Bridge's "Worst That Could Happen," died Wednesday of cancer at his home in Cape Coral, Fla. He was 70.

Johnny had a fabulous voice and I still listen to it on a regular basis as a member of the Brooklyn Bridge or the Crests. What a talent.

I worked as an usher in the Saint George Theater on Staten Island and I met Johnny and the Brooklyn Bridge back in 1977. Before he arrived the Brooklyn Bridge did not have nice things to say about him. Evidently to him they were just the band.
