Sbpetal nailed it. It is Ted Kluszewski, the slugging first baseman of the Cincinnati Reds. Kluszewski isn't a Hall of Fame member, but a statue of him stands outside the Reds' ballpark. Kluszewski died suddenly of a heart attack in 1988 at age 63.

Every once in a while I have to laugh at myself: my eyes were so sore last night that I would swear the uniform said ''Red Sox'' rather than Cincinnati.

Had I read further, I wouldn't have said Jimmy Foxx!

Kluszewski also was the 1959 Go-Go White Sox team.
