Too bad all their hard work went unappreciated by some people. When my husband was in his 30's, he spent more time under them than on top of them. Hey...if he was here now he'd agree!

Someone please clarify something for me: What moving parts are there on bar stools? Do some have wheels on them? Do some have spinning mechanisms to raise or lower the seat? This teetotaller doesn't know but is curious.

In commercial settings, swivel and floor mounted bar stools are common, floor mounting renders the stool less likely to be moved, stolen or even used as a weapon! Floor mounted stools generally are mounted on a column but stools with legs can also be secured to the floor using metal angles.

You may remember swivel stools at lunch counters.

I suspected they would be something like the swivel stools common at old-time lunch counters. Thanks for verifying this, Cliffy. (If anyone should know this, it would be someone with a Cliff Clavin avatar.)
