Commercials were catchier in the old days because the accompanying music had a melody. Heavy metal and hip-hop music has no melody. No one will remember commercials that use that type of music.

One reason, they've run out of original material that sells the product. everywhere you look now you hear the old songs and jingles from the 50-60's.
