Wow, T, those are great! My husband is a StarTrek nut who knows everything you'd ever want to know about the show, I'll have to get him to sign on and take a stab at it.

Gene Roddenberry's original concept for Star Trek was that of a
Wagon Train to the Stars, and included the STARSHIP YORKTOWNplus significantly different characters from the ones we know today.
