Denny McLain Bob Gibson Musical Duet Here's an odd clip from the Ed Sullivan Show of October 13, 1968: Denny McLain of the Detroit Tigers performs on the organ. He is then joined by Bob Gibson of the St. Louis Cardinals on guitar. The Tigers had just beaten the Cards in the World Series three days earlier.

The Cards should of won that Series. Gibson is a much better pitcher than Lolitch and McLain together.

The 68 Detroit Tigers won the series and also brought alot of people together in the celebration. The 1967 riots really tore the people apart. To this day Detroit is one of the most segregated cities in the US. White flight they called it. Today there is only 10% white living in the city. Corruption is rampant.

Thanks Lava; you da best!

Where else but here can one find this stuff!?

Denny was a punk who knew too much for his own good; last pitcher to win 30 in a season (31-6 in '68) Career personal life fizzled into consequences of misbehaviours reluctance to grow up.
Gibson the Hall of Famer's e.r.a. that year was 1.12! Incredibly intense, he left the Harlem Globetrotters because they goofed off too much. So imagine the conflict (here unspoken) between these two intensely opposite opponents!
Now go fetch me Bob Gibson's advertisement for Primatene Mist! (He was an asthmatic kid growing up in Omaha) Who knew? (Besides me...
